my candida

A few months ago I did a detox for candida, which is yeast that takes over your body. I dedicated the whole month of march to this strict, restrictive detox. I had to cut out fruit, red meat, pork, anything processed or refined, vinegar, yeast, sugar and basically everything else. It was a very strict plan, if you goof up one time you have to start over. What happens is you try to starve the yeast in your body so you don't eat anything that can feed it. That's why I say if you slip up one time you start over. I was so dedicated, I did not cheat one time in 30 days. In this 30 day period I did two 3 day cleanses which consisted of not eating any food but drinking real lemon juice, distilled water, and pure maple syrup. After the detox was over I felt a lot better. I was able to start exercising (because I finally had a little energy), I also stopped getting bloaty everyday. It was miraculous and amazing! Well, a few weeks ago when I was really sick the doctor prescribed me antibiotics because he said I might have sinusitis. Everything inside of me told me not to take them because they can cause candida to grow back because they kill off all your healthy bacteria and yeast replaces it. A few days after I went to the doctor I was not feeling any better so I called the doctor's office to tell him of a new symptom I was having (shortness of breath). The nurse rudely told me I needed to take my antibiotics and that would solve the problem I was having. I felt like somebody was sitting on my chest restricting my breathing. Like a big dummy and somebody desperate to feel better I took those stupid antibiotics that I knew I didn't need. Anyway, to make a long sad story short I feel like my candida is back. I have been bloaty everyday and my headaches are returning along with my inability to concentrate and fatigue. I honestly could not be more frustrated, I literally ate almost nothing the whole month of march and took about $350 worth of supplements to help me feel better, and it did. I feel like it was all in vein now because of those stupid antibiotics. Can you tell I'm not happy. By the way, the symptom of the shortness of breathe is still here, I'm pretty convinced I've been suffering from allergies. This blog is pretty boring and uninteresting but this is weighing pretty heavy on my mind right now. I'll try to be more exciting next time!

Susan's Birthday Week!

This week is over and boy am I glad! I have not had time to breathe this week. Monday and Tuesday I was still down for the count with my mystery illness. I'm a pretty determined person though, for three weeks I have been planning a special mommy daughter trip to Lagoon with Susan. Wednesday morning I woke up and got ready and went to Lagoon for a day full of fun with Susan, Annette and Breeanna. There's something pretty cool about seeing something you've seen a thousand times through somebody else' eyes. I was riding on puff the fire dragon with my three year old daughter when I caught myself grinning from ear to ear. I was so happy to go on anything she was tall enough to ride on, even the ones that made me dizzy! It really was magical seeing Lagoon through Susan's eyes. Everything was so new and wondrous, oh to be a kid again! Thursday and Friday of this week were absolute blurs. I spent every waking minute planning Susan's "Under the Sea" birthday party for Saturday morning. There were prizes to buy, gifts to buy, Father's day gifts to buy, lawns to mow, family parties to attend along with everything else you have to do daily. Saturday morning came and Susan could hardly wait another minute for her seventeen little friends to show up. We had three little games for the girls to play. Pin the flounder on the ocean, musical chairs and digging through the sand in the treasure chest for prizes. Woo, for all of the planning I'd done I felt extremely unorganized. Thank Heavens I've got good friends who stayed and helped me with the party. Sherri manned the flounder game, Amy and Cheryleen were on musical chair duty and Lori and Kerry helped little girls dig through sand. All in all it was really hot and the girls were constantly asking for drinks, but other than that I think (hope) they all had fun! After games were presents followed by cupcakes. We saved the best for last. We arranged for Kerry's coworker to come make an appearance as Ariel. She has long red hair, an Ariel costume and is so cute with kids. Most of the girls were pretty impressed I think, most importantly it made Susan happy! After the party I wanted nothing more than to come inside and relax. Haa, like that was going to happen! We had a family dinner at 4:30, lessons to plan for church, gifts to wrap for Father's Day, one dirty house to clean, and a cake to bake for Susan's actual birthday which was today. Wow, am I tired. Today was a good birthday/Father's day, I sure am looking forward to next week where there are no major plans on the horizon!

my sick week

This week has been a blur. I woke up six days ago knowing there was something wrong with me. Somebody had come in the middle of the night and zapped my energy. How rude! I was chugging along just fine and then some invisible freight train came and knocked me off my feet. I have endured fatigue, sore throats, and light headedness for six days and finally decided to go to the doctor today. Ok, here's my thing with doctors. You go in and an hour later you get the $15 shrug. That's what I call it because you pay a copay and you walk out not knowing anything new. Well today I ruled out strep throat and mono which is good news I guess. Turns out I could either have some supersized case of allergies or sinusitis. Shouldn't there be a definitive symptom between the two? Maybe not, after all I'm not a doctor. Anyway, whatever it is I hope it goes away soon. I've been pretty worthless all week, my husband can attest to this! He's been a really good sport taking care of children and preparing glorious meals for all of us. I did have a chance to get out of the house for a minute thursday night to buy supplies for Susan's upcoming party invitations. After one store I was pretty sure I was going to die so I came right back home and laid on the couch! Friday night I was determined to go out and have fun so I joined my cousins at a crazy barbeque. The barbeque was crazy because I was there. I'm pretty sure I doped up on too much Vitamin C because I was as wasted as a drunkard. My cousins can vouch for my strangeness! Boy was I crazy and silly. It was so much fun though because I was with people who really know me and love me, you know the kind of people you can really be yourself around. What a blessing to have friends who love you even when you're acting like a crazy lunatic! Ahhh I'm a lucky girl!

Joan's Birthday

Today is my friend Joan's birthday and she threw herself a little party! The party was small, it consisted of me, Joan, Pam and Peggy. Oh, and my girls of coarse! Today's party was fun for me because I got a chance to be a kid again. I grew up in a wonderful neighborhood in Riverdale where there was a friend my age in every house. We lived on a hill that was shaped like a horse shoe, so you didn't drive in our neighborhood unless you lived there. Right in the middle of all of our houses was a neighborhood swimming pool. The pool was right behind my house and was such a big part of my life. All summer long me and all of my little blond friends would spend all day in the pool and all night under the stars. It was truly ideal, the kind of childhood everyone deserves. Today, I got a chance to go swimming in my old pool and spend time where some of my happiest memories were made. Joan still lives in the old neighborhood and had a little pool party for her birthday. It was fun for me to take my little ones to the place I used to call home and share the magical place with them. There is something so comforting about gathering with people you've known all your life and feel at home with sharing old memories and making new ones. I can still picture all of us little blond girls with our chlorine stained green hair spending care free days swimming. I think our biggest worry was trying to figure out whose back yard we were going to sleep out in and convincing all of our parents to let us. I think one of the greatest gifts I gave my mom was having a wonderful childhood. I didn't realize until I was older that my childhood wasn't as perfect as I thought it was being raised by a single mother, but I never knew it and she was grateful for that!
